The bottom line is, unless you run the correct program, you will not be able to fix the underlying cause of the problem: adware and spyware.

Adware is a type of software that is used to show you advertisements. Adware is an unsolicited program that often comes together with freeware or shareware. This results in irritating pop-up ads, which in some casesshow up as soon as you start up your computer.

Spyware is less obviousand will often stayinvisible in your computer until you run an anti-spyware program. Spyware is used exactly to spy on you. In milder cases, spyware is used to record your Internet browsing habits so that it can record these for marketing purposes. What this means is that as you go about your Internet business, you are under surveillance and your privacy is compromised.

In some cases , however, certain spyware that is better labeled as malware, is used for criminal motives and can steal personal data. For example, malware can record of your keystrokes, passwords, credit card details and other vital information that can be used to steal your identity.
